It's Simple

Creating an account: no account is needed; anyone can add a listing, or edit a listing that's aready there.

Adding a new city: just add a hotspot in a new city, and the city will automatically be listed.

The Hotspotr Story

Hotspotr grew out of a simple need: find out which cafes were laptop-friendly and had free WiFi. At launch, the site only took San Francisco addresses, and had six cafes listed.

The guiding principles are 1) keep it focused (no need to be all things to all people) and 2) make it by and for the community. Thanks to everyone who has contributed listings!

Technologies

Hotspotr is built in with for the JavaScripting goodness.

Two open-source libraries came out of this project. Both are free to use under MIT-style licenses; feel free to use them on your projects.

• GeoKit is a plugin for Rails geocoding and distance calculations.
